It has been a while ago, but now I also have the possibility to put some new pictures on the web.
I've been cycling in the rain from Salida and because of the rain the roads were a bit muddy. I got stuck and had to camp in the middle of nowhere.....
So then I chose to ride on pavement, which is not always a good choice. That appeared when I was riding towards Como (not in Italy). The road was very busy and cars passed agressively... Fortunately the rest of the road is on dirt roads going up!!! To the second highest pass on the route 11,482 feet!
Climbing was easy because of the fact that the route was a former railroad track (not more than 4% climbing)
On fourth of July I was in Frisco (at Dillon Reservoir) I stayed there for several nights at a campground with some very nice people. (campground was full because of the weekend, but the people let me stay on their campspot!!!)
After that I cycled further via Kremmling to Radium. I was advised to go to a hotspring in that area. Not to many people know about it, so that was very relaxed (certainly only cycling 18 miles to get there that day was relaxed)
I met an American couple who were cycling the same trail as I am. Although they do it in around 40 days!!! The next day I cycled with them which was good fun. We had to climb 2000 feet in about 4 miles.....that was hard....but we made it to Steamboat Springs around 6pm and we did 58 miles.
The next day I stayed and called a couple I met about 2,5 months ago. I could stay with them for a few days. Nice to have bed to sleep in for a change.
With that couple I went mountainbiking on the ski slopes around Steamboat. Some real tough climbing, which went pretty OK without the gear!!!

Leuk om weer van je te lezen. Wildkamperen overleefd, nu ben je een echte survivaler. Ysbrand en ik vertrekken 4 augustus naar Canada en komen 2 september weer terug. Dus ik ben bang dat we je niet zullen tegenkomen wanneer je in Canada bent. Veel succes en hopelijk niet te veel modder meer de komende tijd. Hier is het ook een modderboel, het regent al dagen.

Het is inderdaad al weer enige tijd geleden dat we wat van je hoorden, maar zo te lezen heb je ook niet stil gezeten! Ben je wel een beetje tevreden met de inmiddels opgebouwde conditie? Mooie foto's ook weer, gelukkig ook een zonsondergang... ;-)
